8 Ways Zeolite Can Improve Digestive Health
Each year 62 million Americans are diagnosed with digestive disorders, ranging from the occasional upset stomach to the more life-threatening colon cancer.
Most digestive diseases are very complex, with subtle symptoms, and the causes of many remain unknown. Even common and harmless symptoms, if they persist, could be an indicator of a more serious illness. Digestion-related symptoms and problems should be taken seriously. Keeping the digestive system organs in a healthy state is one of the best things one can do for overall health.
Fortunately, for sufferers of digestive conditions, there is a natural mineral compound that aids digestion in various ways. This purifying mineral is called zeolite; it can target and safely remove toxic heavy metals, balance the body’s pH levels, bind viral sub-particles, and improve digestive function by allowing better absorption and assimilation of nutrients.
1. Zeolite will bind heavy metals and other toxins in the intestine, blocking the absorption of these harmful agents.
Toxins get in your body through the food you eat, the water you drink, the chemicals in foods and drinks, colourings, fertilizers, and preservatives, to mention just a few. Taken separately, each of these toxins may be relatively harmless, but the collective effect on the body can be considerably even more damaging. Zeolite safely binds and removes these toxins before they can be absorbed through the intestinal walls.
2. Zeolite blocks the absorption of cancer-causing substances.
Since zeolite has a negative charge, it binds and removes positively charged organic compounds, such as nitrosamines, dioxins, perchlorethylene, and aflatoxins.
• Nitrosamines are found in foodstuffs such as beer, fish byproducts, processed or cured meats, and some cheeses.
• Dioxins enter the body mostly through ingestion of food, but also through exposure to chemicals such as herbicides.
• Perchlorethylene is used as a solvent in dry cleaning and as a metal degreaser; it is found in some consumer products, such as paint stripper and spot remover.
• Aflatoxins are known to contaminate foods such as corn, milk products, and peanut-containing products that have had a growth of fungus or mold.
3. Zeolite serves as a natural antacid.
We know that excess stomach acid can contribute to both GERD, or acid reflux, and peptic ulcers. Zeolite, by virtue of its negative charge, will bind to stomach acid, neutralizing it, and can even remove excess stomach acid. Zeolite is soluble in water and acid, so it is not flushed from the stomach as quickly as sodium bicarbonate. Zeolite continues to neutralize acid even in the lower gut.
4. Zeolite does not bind to vitamins and nutrients.
Research has shown that zeolite does not bind any necessary vitamins or nutrients in the stomach or intestine, making them available for full absorption from the intestine into the blood stream. The more vitamins and nutrients we can get out of our food, the better.
5. Zeolite helps keep pH levels in balance.
Research suggests that the “buffering” properties of zeolite (keeping the acid-base balance normal in the intestine) allows for a more complete absorption of nutrients. The pH level plays a crucial role in a normally functioning digestive tract. The stomach’s pH is very acidic; the strong acid content both breaks down food for further digestion and neutralizes or eliminates various pathogens. In the small intestines, however, conditions are neutralized to be more alkaline, thanks to bile from the liver and the mucosal tissue lining of the small intestine; this mild alkaline environment allows for absorption. Zeolite helps to maintain this alkalinity.
6. Zeolite helps maintain the balance of healthy bacteria in the intestine and colon.
Research suggests that the buffering properties of zeolite help keep the intestines working properly. Maintaining the beneficial microorganisms found in the gut can result in better food and vitamin absorption, a decrease in the incidence of certain food intolerances, and a decrease in symptoms of both irritable bowel syndrome and chronic constipation.
7. Zeolite helps to reduce gas and bloating.
Research has shown that zeolite has a direct effect to decrease the amount of “gas” created in the intestine, potentially leading to a decrease in the sense of “bloating” that some people feel after eating. Bloating is usually caused by food digesting improperly, but also results from a build-up of toxins and impurities. The detoxifying power of zeolite helps the entire digestive system to operate at its optimum condition.
8. Zeolite can help reduce side effects of pharmaceutical drugs.
Research suggests that zeolite can help remove toxic break down products from various pharmaceutical agents that are created in the intestine when these medications are taken by mouth. This would potentially result in a decrease in some of the side effects associated with certain medications.
