5 Reasons Zeolite Benefits Exercise
Anyone who exercises knows that both good nutrition and a post-exercise recovery period are two of the most important aspects of a physical activity regimen. Exercise demands that one eat a nutritious, balanced diet to fuel the body and drink enough fluids to keep hydrated. The recovery period is when the body adapts to the stress of exercise, allowing physical changes to take place. Nutrients and fluids are replenished, fatigued muscles and depleted energy stores are recharged, and damaged tissues are repaired.
Many athletes include supplements in their diet to help with both nutrition and exercise recovery. The human body, especially if it is regularly engaging in physical activity, is adversely affected by toxins in the environment. By removing toxins from the system, zeolite can help the body to defend itself while also increasing strength, endurance, and stamina.
Zeolite consumption can result in:
- A quicker exercise recovery time
- Less pain during exercise and in the 24 hours following exercise
- More endurance and stamina
1. Zeolite binds heavy metals and other toxins in the intestine, thereby blocking the absorption of these harmful agents.
Toxins get in your body through the food you eat, the water you drink, the chemicals in foods and drinks, colourings, fertilizers, and preservatives, to mention just a few. Toxins building up in the body can be the foundation for chronic health problems. Zeolite safely binds and removes these toxins before they can be absorbed through the intestinal walls.
a. Detoxification results in greater energy levels. Some of these toxins can block an important binding site on the “energy molecule” known as ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate). When toxins are removed, more ATP is available for the muscle to use. This results in increased energy, and allows individuals to improve exercise effort and duration, increasing the overall benefits of exercise.
b. Detoxification aids in muscle recovery. Once zeolite removes the toxic metals the activity of zinc finger proteins is increased. These proteins are important in cell division; this increase results in better muscle recovery in the post-exercise period, allowing for muscle regeneration. This explains the faster recovery times and decreased pain in the 24-hour period following exercise.
2. Zeolite does not bind to vitamins and nutrients.
Research has shown that zeolite does not bind any necessary vitamins or nutrients in the stomach or intestine, making them available for full absorption from the intestine into the blood stream. It’s been said, “You are what you eat.” While true, it’s probably more correct to say, “You are what you digest and absorb.” The more vitamins and nutrients we can get out of our food, the better.
3. Zeolite helps keep pH levels in balance, improving absorption of nutrients and supplements.
Zeolite improves the intestinal pH and bacterial environment, allowing for more complete absorption of other nutrients, such as vitamins, protein, and supplements. Digestion is a complex process controlled by several factors, one of which is pH. The stomach’s pH is very acidic; in the small intestines, however, conditions are neutralized to be more alkaline. This mild alkaline environment allows for absorption. Zeolite helps to maintain this alkalinity and helps keep the intestines working properly.
4. Zeolite helps to decrease lactic acid.
Zeolite binds and removes excess acid (hydrogen ions H+) and raises the pH of blood and muscle. This decreases lactic acid production in exercise, and results in an ability to exercise longer with less pain during exercise. The accumulation of lactic acid is known to cause muscle pain and cut exercise time down.
5. Zeolite acts as an antioxidant, decreasing oxidative stress during exercise.
Performance of strenuous physical activity can increase oxygen consumption by 10- to 15-fold over rest to meet energy demands. The resulting elevated oxygen consumption produces an “oxidative stress” that leads to the generation of free radicals and lipid peroxidation. It’s important to neutralize these free radicals as much as possible to control the damage they cause within the body-especially in areas such as the joints and connective tissue, the health of which is crucial for athletes. Zeolite is an antioxidant, neutralizing these free radicals.
