4 Ways Zeolite helps combat Diabetes

Diabetes, a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar, is one of the most common health disorders known today.  In 2006, according to the World Health Organisation, at least 171 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes.  Diabetes can cause many complications.  Some are acute, but most are serious long-term complications.

A person suffering from diabetes is not able to properly turn food into energy due to the improper production and use of a hormone called insulin.  Though the cause is not known, poor diet and high consumption of unhealthy foods may contribute to its appearance.

A natural detoxifying mineral called Zeolite can help to combat diabetes. Zeolite also acts as an antioxidant, countering free radicals and helping the body defend itself against free radical/DNA damage.  Thus, it plays a role in preventing some of the oxidation-induced blood vessel problems to which diabetics are susceptible.

1. Zeolite reduces Nitrate uptake

Nitrosamines come from protein sources, particularly processed red meats containing nitrates such as bacon.  Nitrates are used in preserving and processing most red-meat products.
These nitrosamines are toxic to the beta cells of the pancreas, the cells responsible for making and secreting insulin.  Consequently, nitrosamines have been implicated as causative factors in the development of insulin-dependent diabetes in children.

A great candidate for preventing diabetes, zeolite reduces nitrate uptake by capturing nitrosamines in the digestive tract, preventing them from reacting with the body’s biochemistry.  Zeolite can also help prevent and treat diabetes thanks to its ability to eliminate excess glucose and, as a result, help regulate blood sugar levels.

2. Zeolite reduces blood sugar levels

Zeolite has a negatively charged matrix structure, so it binds to the slightly positively charged glucose molecule.  The glucose does not get trapped inside the zeolite cage, but can be “sandwiched” between two zeolite molecules.  When bound to the zeolite, the glucose cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream.  Thus, over time, glucose levels are reduced in the presence of zeolite.

3. Zeolite stabilizes blood pH levels

Zeolite also removes excess acid from the blood, stabilizing the blood pH.  By doing so it improves the function of diabetes medications in those patients prescribed such medications.  Having a stable blood pH level also improves the function of insulin, whether it’s natural insulin produced by the pancreas or insulin administered by injection.

4. Zeolite Combats “Glucose Toxicity”

Zeolite is described as a detoxifying mineral, which is exactly what it is doing when it reduces glucose levels in the blood.  Though not traditionally considered a toxin, chronic high levels of glucose can be toxic to the system with tragic results.  The condition is known as “glucose toxicity.”  The continual oxidative stress brought on by the high glucose levels makes the job of transporting oxygen-rich blood very difficult for the vascular system, which becomes inflamed and rigid.  When the tiny capillaries found in the extremities become inflamed, it can lead to a complete loss of blood circulation, and as a result, amputation.

Over time, the elevated glucose produces “advanced glycation end” (or AGE) products, which inhibit protein function.  These AGE products contribute to atherosclerosis, hypertension, kidney impairment, heart attack, and stroke, explaining why diabetics have associated high risk of cardiovascular disease.  If zeolite can help stabilize glucose levels, thereby minimizing its effects on the blood stream, it can lessen the risk or severity of conditions related to diabetes.

Diabetes is a disease to be taken seriously.  Its escalating incidence and numerous complications make it one of the most prevalent and threatening diseases we face today.  Fortunately, there are ways to both prevent and ameliorate the effects of diabetes.  It’s important to know that the natural mineral zeolite can help combat the disease by neutralizing nitrosamines, reducing blood glucose levels, and stabilizing the blood pH, allowing diabetic medications and insulin to work more effectively.
